Surfaris invented the remote area learn to surf format and have been running since 1994. We run every week of every year. We will take you on a surf seeking pilgrimage between Sydney and Byron Bay. The route follows that blazed by the Sydney surfers in the early 60s following the introduction of the Malibu surfboard into Australia and is the same route followed by Sydney surfers today.

Stay in a remote location close to surf beaches in comfortable accommodation
Surf and explore the beaches and headlands
See a variety of wildlife including Dolphins, Roo's, Wallabies, Eagles, Hawks and other animal, bird and aquatic life
And most importantly have a good time!

The locations we select offer easy access to safe surf conditions and our guides are expert surfers who have an intimate knowledge of the coast and can place you in the best conditions according to your abilities. We pull a trailer sufficient to carry all camp gear, backpacks and other items. Most of our customers are beginners or close thereto, but many experienced surfers also take our trips. Everything except alcohol is inclusive of tariff until the trip gets to Byron Bay on a Friday evening. From that point meals and accommodation are your own expense. Budget accommodation is in Byron Bay. There is a wind up night on Saturday with meal and a few drinks at a restaurant in Byron and you can travel back to Sydney on any Sunday both inclusive of tariff.

Sydney - every Monday, from Byron Bay every Sunday. Departs every week of the year from Sydney, Mondays from bus Stop 7, Eddy Ave, Central Station at 7:45 am

Byron Bay - You join the bus in Byron any Sunday morning at 8:00am. Monday you start the safari and will be surfing and camping in Nt. Park regions for the full week & you will be back in Byron on the Friday evening. If you wish to terminate in Sydney you can travel ANY Sunday arriving in Sydney approx. 9:00pm.

You can return to Sydney with us inclusive of tariff any Sunday. You can join these trips either in Sydney or Byron Bay.

Surfaris are North Coast Surfers based in Byron Bay & we have never viewed our trips as a Tour. Over the past few years Sydney based operators with day school back grounds have moved in to this field & you need to be aware that the trips we offer & the tours they offer, are completely different experiences.

All other operators publish their surf locations whereas we do not. We wont even tell you if you ring up. This is despite the fact that we hold the exclusive commercial licence to the best remote area National Park surf locations on the North Coast of N.S.W. Real Surfers dont dump on their locations.

Surfaris runs one trip per week, every week of the year. We dont run day trips, two day trips, ski trips or any other kind of trip.

All other operators will tell you that you will be up surfing in one lesson. We tell you that you need 5 days minimum to get even a basic handle on this activity. The stand up parameter is only a tiny fraction of what you need to know in order to go on with this activity.

Surfaris is not your normal backpacker party tour. All we do is surf. We dont go on pub crawls & we dont visit cart tracks. The amount you drink around the campfire at night is not regulated, but most customers are too knackered to party long. Its not unusual to have a spread of ages on a Surfaris trip from 16yrs, to 60yrs, with the bulk of customers in their early 20s.

Surfaris have the most experienced surf coaches of any operator & they only work each alternate week to ensure each group gets a fresh crew for the week.

There are a number of trips each year, Xmas through to end of January & the trip running into Easter where, because of camp ground congestion, we only surf the one region, the mid North Coast of N.S.W. Australia.
